How to choose your bowl

There is no single bowl for everyone. Material, wall thickness and size change, and so does the sound. These are the differences between the ones we carry.

Antique bowls

They are over 50 years old, handmade and cast from seven metals or more. Every piece sounds different.

  • KoprepattiThin wall. It vibrates a lot, and you can feel that vibration in the body, which is why it is used in bowl massage.
  • ThadopatiThicker wall and a sustained sound. Works very well in sound sessions and concerts.
  • JambatiA middle ground between vibration and sound. A very complete bowl, good for almost any use.
  • DolphinHolds a little water inside. When you move it while it sounds, the water makes a sound that recalls dolphins.

Modern bowls

Made in recent decades, with two to seven metals, hand-hammered or turned.

  • JhumkaVery thick wall. It has a powerful sound that lasts a long time, which is why it is widely used in concerts.
  • Full MoonWorked during full-moon nights. A modern bowl with a very good sound and a lot of presence.

To start

A bowl of 15 to 20 cm. Easy to handle, and it sounds good both struck and rimmed.

For meditation or yoga

10 to 14 cm works very well, especially if you will mostly strike it rather than rim it.

Larger

A large, well-made bowl sustains the sound longer and produces more overtones at once.
