Mani Puri bowls are characterized by their open, dish-shaped form.
They are antique bowls, and their main sonic quality is the bright, shimmering high tones produced when struck.
Most of them can also be played by rubbing the rim with a mallet to extend and amplify the higher frequencies.

They come with a wood and leather mallet.
